What a Westpac statement looks like
Westpac prints its transaction table with these columns. We read every row exactly as it appears and return clean, normalized data.
- Dates are printed as DD/MM/YY (e.g. 26/03/21) — repeated on every row, even when several transactions share a day
- A BALANCE column on every transaction row, opening from a STATEMENT OPENING BALANCE line whose figure sits in the balance column only.
- Card purchases append the merchant's city and country ("Coles Mobile Sydney Aus") and often wrap over two or three lines — foreign purchases add the original currency and Westpac's foreign transaction fee on their own lines. Older statement vintages print DDMMM dates with the year as a standalone line and mark negatives with a trailing minus. We merge every wrapped line and normalize both vintages into one clean, signed table.
Why convert your Westpac statement here
Westpac statements have their own quirks. We built our converter for them.
Three printed lines, one row
A single card purchase can span three lines with city, currency, and fee details. Each one comes back as a single row with the full description intact.
Checked against every row
Westpac prints the running balance on every transaction. We reconcile each extracted amount against it, so a misread figure can't slip through.
Past the export window
Westpac's export covers only recent history; statements stay online for seven years, closed accounts included. Convert the PDFs — the ATO can ask for five.
Nothing to lose
If a conversion fails, your credits are refunded automatically — and your first 10 pages are free.
How to download your Westpac statement
You need the PDF first. Here is where Westpac keeps it.
Online banking
- 1 Log in to Westpac Online Banking and go to "Overview", then "Statements"
- 2 Select the account under "Active accounts"
- 3 Enter a date range or pick a pre-set one, then select "Search"
- 4 Select "Download PDF"
Mobile app
- 1 In the Westpac App, search "Statements" in the Smart Search bar
- 2 Tap "Statements (incl. closed accounts)"
- 3 Select the account and tap the statement period
- 4 Tap the share icon to download or send the PDF
Westpac keeps up to 7 years of statements online, closed accounts included. Its transaction export (CSV, QIF, OFX) only covers recent history — roughly the last 18 months — so everything older lives only in the PDF statements.
