What a Scotiabank statement looks like

Scotiabank prints its transaction table with these columns. We read every row exactly as it appears and return clean, normalized data.

  • Dates are printed as MMM D without a year (e.g. Jan 11) — the account summary and statement period lines carry the year
  • A running Balance ($) column — overdrawn balances are printed with a real minus sign (-$9.64), unlike many banks.
  • Merchant names and locations wrap onto their own line beneath the transaction — "Point of sale purchase" first, the store and city below it. We merge those continuation lines into one description, sign the two unsigned amount columns, and keep the account summary box ("Minus total withdrawals, Plus total deposits") out of your transaction totals.

Why convert your Scotiabank statement here

Scotiabank statements have their own quirks. We built our converter for them.

Wrapped descriptions, made whole

Scotiabank prints the merchant and city on their own line under each transaction, which shifts rows in most parsers. We merge every continuation line into one clean description cell.

Signed amounts you can sum

Amounts withdrawn ($) and Amounts deposited ($) are unsigned columns where position carries the meaning. We apply the sign so one amount column adds up correctly.

24 months online, 7 years archived

Statements older than two years live only in Scotiabank's 7-year eStatement archive as PDFs. Convert them to Excel whenever the CRA or your accountant asks.

Nothing to lose

If a conversion fails, your credits are refunded automatically — and your first 10 pages are free.

How to download your Scotiabank statement

You need the PDF first. Here is where Scotiabank keeps it.

Online banking

  1. 1 Sign in to Scotia online banking
  2. 2 From your Accounts page, select the account you need
  3. 3 Select "Documents" and choose the statement
  4. 4 When it opens, download the PDF with the arrow icon

Mobile app

  1. 1 Open the Scotiabank app and select your account from the Home screen
  2. 2 Open the account's documents section
  3. 3 Choose the statement period you need
  4. 4 Open the PDF and save or share it to your device

You can view and download 24 months of statements online, and eStatements stay archived for up to 7 years — for credit cards, 7 years from when you switched to eStatements. The mobile app can't export transaction history at all, so the PDF statement is the record.

What customers say

"Every point-of-sale line has the merchant on a second row, which broke every parser I tried — my rows came out shifted. Here each purchase is one row with the merchant where it belongs."

Danielle Roy

"My accountant needed statements from three years ago for a CRA review. Online banking only shows two years, but the eStatement archive had the older PDFs — I converted the lot the same day."

Kevin Boudreau

"I pay my suppliers in cash from ABM withdrawals, and the converted sheet kept every machine location. Matching receipts to withdrawals finally takes minutes instead of a whole evening."
