What a BMO statement looks like

BMO prints its transaction table with these columns. We read every row exactly as it appears and return clean, normalized data.

  • Dates are printed as MMM DD without a year (e.g. Dec 19, Jan 02) — repeated on every row of the same day, with the year carried by the "For the period ending" line
  • A Balance ($) column on every single row, opening from an Opening balance line and ending in a Closing totals row — negative balances get a true minus sign.
  • BMO spells its amount columns out in full — "Amounts deducted from your account ($)" and "Amounts added to your account ($)" — and writes descriptions as a type plus an uppercase detail ("Debit Card Purchase, DOLLARAMA #522"). The Closing totals row sums the columns instead of listing a transaction, and promo banners can appear mid-statement. We skip both, sign every amount, and check each row against the printed balance.

Why convert your BMO statement here

BMO statements have their own quirks. We built our converter for them.

BMO's famously long headers

"Amounts deducted from your account ($)" fits no generic template, so most tools mangle the columns. We map both to clean, signed amounts your spreadsheet can sum.

Checked against every row

BMO prints a running balance on every transaction row. We reconcile each extracted amount against it, so a misread figure can't slip through silently.

Seven years of statements, unlocked

BMO's own spreadsheet export stops about three months back; eStatements are stored for seven years. Convert any of them — the CRA can ask for six.

Nothing to lose

If a conversion fails, your credits are refunded automatically — and your first 10 pages are free.

How to download your BMO statement

You need the PDF first. Here is where BMO keeps it.

Online banking

  1. 1 Sign in to BMO Online Banking and go to My Accounts
  2. 2 Select the account you need
  3. 3 Open the account's statements section — if you're still on paper, enable eStatements under "Change Statement Options" first
  4. 4 Choose the statement month and download the PDF

Mobile app

  1. 1 Open the BMO app and sign in
  2. 2 Select your account
  3. 3 Open the statements section for that account
  4. 4 Choose the month and save the PDF to your device

BMO stores eStatements for seven years — chequing, savings, credit cards, and lines of credit alike. Its spreadsheet download under Download Account Details only reaches back about three months, so older periods exist only as PDFs.

What customers say

"Every generic tool crammed BMO's 'Amounts deducted from your account' columns into one unsigned number. This kept debits and credits straight without me touching a formula."

Sophie Bergeron

"My Mastercard refunds print as '25.00 CR' and Excel read them as text. Now credits come back as real negative numbers and my monthly totals just work."

Marcus Adeyemi

"BMO's download stops at three months and my bookkeeper wanted the full fiscal year. I uploaded twelve statements and had one clean Excel back before lunch."

Tom Sinclair
