What a American Express statement looks like

American Express prints its transaction table with these columns. We read every row exactly as it appears and return clean, normalized data.

  • Dates are printed as MM/DD/YY with the year on every row (e.g. 12/29/25) — Amex statements often span a year boundary
  • No running balance — card statements carry one signed amount per row. Balances live in the Account Summary box instead: previous balance, payments and credits, new charges, fees, interest, and new balance.
  • Activity is split into Payments and Credits, New Charges, Fees, and Interest Charged sections, with charges grouped per card member. Each description spans two or three printed lines — merchant, city and state, then a category or phone line. We fold every transaction into one clean row and skip the Membership Rewards and interest-calculation pages.

Why convert your American Express statement here

American Express statements have their own quirks. We built our converter for them.

Every card member, kept apart

On multi-card accounts, Amex groups charges per card member under New Charges. We carry that attribution into your spreadsheet, so employee and family card spending stays traceable to the right person.

Four sections become one table

Payments and Credits, New Charges, Fees, and Interest Charged are merged into one chronological list with signed amounts — payments and credits negative, charges positive.

Points pages filtered out

Membership Rewards pages and the interest-rate calculation table look like transaction tables but aren't. We skip them automatically, so only real money movements land in your export.

Nothing to lose

If a conversion fails, your credits are refunded automatically — and your first 10 pages are free.

What customers say

"We run Business Platinum with six employee cards, and the statement splits charges per card member. The export keeps every charge tagged to the right person, so month-end expense allocation went from an evening to a coffee break."

Sarah Mitchell

"Amex prints each charge across three lines — merchant, city, category. Copying that into a spreadsheet by hand always mangled the rows. Here every transaction comes back as one clean line with the full merchant description intact."

James Okafor

"I needed two years of Platinum statements for my tax return. Downloaded them all from Amex, uploaded the PDFs, and had one tidy CSV with payments negative and charges positive. My accountant thought I'd paid for expensive software."
