What a NatWest statement looks like
NatWest prints its transaction table with these columns. We read every row exactly as it appears and return clean, normalized data.
- Dates are printed as DD MMM YYYY with the year on the row (e.g. 01 Oct 2024) — typically printed only on the first transaction of each day
- A running Balance column — with overdrawn balances marked by an OD suffix after the figure instead of a minus sign.
- A dedicated Type column carries NatWest's codes — D/D, POS, BAC, S/O, TFR, OTR and more — and card rows embed the card digits and purchase date inside the description. We keep the code as its own column, fill dates down to every row, exclude the BROUGHT FORWARD row, and turn OD balances into proper negative numbers.
Why convert your NatWest statement here
NatWest statements have their own quirks. We built our converter for them.
Type codes, kept and usable
NatWest's Type column — D/D, POS, BAC, S/O, TFR — survives the conversion as its own column, so you can filter direct debits from card spending in one click.
Dates filled down
NatWest prints the date only on the first transaction of each day. Every extracted row gets its full date, so sorting and pivoting behave.
OD becomes a real negative
Overdrawn balances appear as "380.68 OD" rather than a minus figure. We convert them into proper negative numbers your spreadsheet can calculate with.
Nothing to lose
If a conversion fails, your credits are refunded automatically — and your first 10 pages are free.
How to download your NatWest statement
You need the PDF first. Here is where NatWest keeps it.
Online banking
- 1 Log in to Online Banking at onlinebanking.natwest.com
- 2 Select "Statements & transactions" from the main menu
- 3 Select "Statements" in the "Your statements" section
- 4 Choose the account and year, then click the statement to download the PDF
Mobile app
- 1 Open the NatWest app and tap your account on the home page
- 2 Tap the three-dot options icon, then "Statements"
- 3 Select the statement you need
- 4 Use the export button in the top right to save or share the PDF
Online Banking holds up to 7 years of PDF statements while the account is open; the app searches the same 7 years, 12 months at a time. NatWest's own spreadsheet export only covers about the last three months — for anything older, the PDF archive is the record.

What customers say
"The Type column is the best thing about NatWest statements, and every converter I tried threw it away. This one keeps it, so I can split direct debits from card spending for my shop's accounts in seconds."
Priya Sharma
"My overdraft months showed balances like "213.40 OD", which Excel happily treated as positive. Getting real negative numbers back meant my cash-flow sheet finally told the truth."
Lewis Hartley
"HMRC wanted six years of records for my self-assessment review. NatWest's export only goes back three months, but the PDF statements went back the full seven years — I converted the lot in an afternoon."
